MN Wilderness First Aid is a Red Cross authorized training provider, emphasizing on Wilderness and Remote First Aid training for Scouts BSA leaders preparing for high adventures. I took over for my friend, Paul Kautz the owner of ACTIVE SOURCE, INC. who wanted to retire, but didn’t want to leave our local scouting community in lurch. I made becoming a certified Red Cross Instructor one of my Woodbadge ticket items. If you were referred here from ACTIVE SOURCE, INC. – “Welcome, you are in the right place!” I’ve modeled the 18 hour Wilderness and Remote First Aid course after what was offered by Paul at ACTIVE SOURCE, INC.

I’m a former United States Army Officer, and have extensive experience in the backcountry. I have traveled with both Scouts BSA and Girl Scouts. I’m a Girl Scout Leader and a Scout Master for Troops located in New Brighton, MN.

I enjoy teaching youth. As a registered and background checked volunteer for the Girl Scouts and trained Scout Master with an up to date YPT for Scouts BSA I’m happy to join you at a camp or meeting to conduct training. I can teach any level of first aid to Girl Scouts including the Cadette Babysitting Badge. I can provide training and resources for the Scouts BSA First Aid Merit Badge, including Step 7 in the 2022 update.
